Original Flo disc noise

Postby karlthegreat » June 2nd, 2013, 10:26 am

I bought one of the first Flo disc wheels from a friend. It was never used. While it works well, it is very loud. I understand that the second generation Flo discs had a foam layer between the spokes and the carbon fiber disc portion. Can anyone suggest a way to quiet this drum? Would sliding some foam, or fabric up between the spoke and carbon fiber help? I imagine this could only be done with a few spokes going in through near valve opening.
Thanks

karlthegreat,

There unfortunately isn't much you can do. You can attempt to place some foam between the spokes and the carbon fiber but I imagine that would be quite difficult to do. I wish I had a clever answer for you but I do not. Once the carbon fiber is bonded to the rim it really doesn't come off well without destroying the wheel.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Take care,
