New Flo's

Postby cverdu » August 31st, 2015, 9:58 am

Hi guys,

First of all, sorry for my English. I'm not native but I'll try to express myself as good as possible.

With the 2015 season almost over for me (an OD next week and a HIM in 2 weeks) I've started saving some € for the new season.

Just to give you a bit of background story: I'm 29, usually race HIM and planning on my first IM somewhere in 2017. Baby steps. I'm an OK cyclist, able to average 35kmh for 2-3hours. I own a 2015 Felt B14 (TT bike) and a Pinarello Marvel (training/commuter). Oh, by the way, I live in the Netherlands (flat, very very flat)

I just purchased an aero helmet and so the next thing I'd like to upgrade are my wheels (stock Felt set). My question to you guys is:

Would you recommend me the 60/Disc or 60/90 set up? My training is done on my Pinarello but I usually go for a long ride on Sundays on my TT bike. I won't be using these Flo's for training but for racing AND on my long rides (+3h) only.

I've read your blog and other people's posts but I still cannot make up my mind. Little push would be appreciated :)

Cheers

cverdu,

Thanks for writing. If you are going to be both racing and doing long training rides on the wheels than I would recommend the 60/90 combo. The FLO DISC isn't our first recommendation for training rides. If you need the extra speed for race day, I'd highly recommend a wheel cover that you can purchase from wheelbuilder.com for around $100. It's the best way to get the best of both worlds for a great price. Aerodynamically, a covered 90 will be nearly identical to our FLO DISC.

Does that make sense? Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Take care,
Chris Thornham
