Flo disc on Cervelo P2/P3

Postby JDalzell » May 26th, 2012, 5:12 pm

Hi, Was wondering if the Flo Disc fits on the Cervelo P2/P3 frameset. Many riders have had difficulty fitting other wide rim discs on the P2/P3 framesets. I believe Cervelo mentions It can be done but there is risk of the wheel rubbing on the chainstays under high torque. Cervelo has also mentioned that the fairing in a P2/P3 framset is not wide enough to completely hide a wider rim and most definitely will impact aerodynamics but don't say how much. Does the superior aerodynamics of your wheel negate or minimize the narrow fairing wide rim issue? Thanks

We fit the FLO DISC on a P2 and a P3. We found that both fit. The P3 had what we considered a tight fit. WIth a lot of torque you may get rub but we do not see this happening under normal conditions.

As far as the narrow fairing wide rim issue is concerned it is really tough to say exactly what will happen unless this was tested in CFD or a wind tunnel. Wheel/frame interactions can create a number of unique scenarios when aerodynamics are concerned. As a general rule of thumb the more aero the wheel and bike more aerodynamic the package will be. I hope that makes sense.
