Is It Possible to True a 2015 Flo Disc Wheel?

Postby sqn_pest » May 3rd, 2016, 3:00 pm

Good evening,

I bought a Flo Disc last year. I was wondering whether there is any ability to true the wheel? Or is it a case of when it is knocked out of shape you have to bin it?

Many thanks

Yes you can true a FLO DISC. Be sure to take it to a very experienced builder. Because the spokes are covered, it's a blind true, so you'll want to work in 1/8th or 1/4 turns of nipples. Here is a video showing the tools and technique.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Take care,

Is there a video you recommend to learn the theory of how to true a wheel?
Cheers!

I don't know of any good videos unfortunately. If you are going to learn how to do it, the FLO DISC is the last wheels I'd start on. It's a blind true, so I'd leave that to an experienced builder.

A good resource for learning about wheel building is a book titled "The Bicycle Wheel" by Jobst Brandt. You can find it on Amazon. If you read that and experiment with some other wheels first, you would likely be able to true your FLO DISC. My advice would be to make as few minor adjustments as possible.
