FLO30 Spoke Tensions

Postby jcarey » October 30th, 2013, 12:55 am

Hi,

I have recently purchased a set of standard build FLO30. I am really enjoying the ride these wheels give me on the rough UK roads. I have a question around spoke tensions. I have no issue with the tensions on my purchase I just would like to know what the tension should be should I need to re-tension the spokes.

I have a TM-1 Park Tool for measuring spoke tensions. For the FLO30 spokes I assume I should use the steel blade 0.9x2.2mm from the Park Tool conversion table for the TM-1.

Can you please tell me what the recommended tensions for the spokes on each side of each wheel in either kgf or Newtons?

As an aside question what determines the recommended tensions, is it the spoke type or the rim type or both or other?

Thank You Jamie

Thanks for writing Jamie. I apologize for the delay. I was without a computer for about a week and... well you know how that goes.

The spoke tensions are determined by the rim and the spokes combined. Plus years and years of wheel building knowledge.

I've pasted the recommended tensions below.

Front
90-120 kgf

Rear
Drive Side: 110-130 kgf
Non Drive Side: 50-100 kgf

Take care,
